GHOSTBUSTERS MONTH GIVEAWAY — OFFICIAL RULES
October 2026
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. Sponsor
The Stop Ruining My Childhood Ghostbusters Month Giveaway (“Giveaway”) is sponsored and administered by Stop Ruining My Childhood (“SRMC”).
This Giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with YouTube, Google, Hasbro, Sony Pictures, Ghostbusters, or any other third party depicted or referenced in connection with the prize or SRMC content.
2. Giveaway Period
The Giveaway begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time on October 1, 2026 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on October 31, 2026 (“Giveaway Period”).
Entries received outside the Giveaway Period will not be eligible.
3. Eligibility
The Giveaway is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
Employees, owners, contractors, or immediate family members of Stop Ruining My Childhood are not eligible.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
4. How to Enter
During the Giveaway Period, watch an eligible Ghostbusters-related video or YouTube Short published by Stop Ruining My Childhood and leave a genuine comment responding to the question or discussion presented in that video.
Each eligible Ghostbusters video or Short provides an opportunity for one entry per person.
For example, an entrant who leaves an eligible comment on five different qualifying Ghostbusters videos or Shorts may receive five entries.
Multiple comments by the same person on the same video or Short will still count as only one entry.
There is no purchase necessary to enter.
Subscribing to the Stop Ruining My Childhood YouTube channel is NOT required to enter and will not increase an entrant's chances of winning. Likes, shares, views, or other YouTube engagement metrics are also not required.
YouTube prohibits contests from manipulating platform metrics, including subscriber counts, so keeping subscription separate from entry is important. Google Help
5. Eligible Comments
Comments should be relevant to the Ghostbusters video or Short on which they are posted.
Comments that are spam, fraudulent, automated, duplicated, abusive, or otherwise violate YouTube's Community Guidelines may be disqualified.
Entrants must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines. YouTube's guidelines apply to comments as well as videos, posts, links and thumbnails. Google Help
SRMC reserves the right to disqualify entries reasonably believed to involve fraud, automated entry methods, impersonation, multiple accounts created to obtain additional entries, or other attempts to circumvent these Official Rules.
6. Prize
One (1) winner will receive:
One Peter Venkman Ghostbusters action figure, as pictured in Stop Ruining My Childhood's Ghostbusters Month Giveaway promotional materials.
Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $25.00 USD.
The prize is awarded as-is and cannot be exchanged for cash. No prize substitution is permitted except at SRMC's discretion if the advertised prize becomes unavailable, in which case a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted.
SRMC makes no representation that the prize is affiliated with, sponsored by, or provided by the manufacturer or owner of the Ghostbusters intellectual property.
7. Winner Selection
After the Giveaway Period closes, SRMC will compile all eligible entries.
One potential winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period.
The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.
8. Winner Notification
SRMC will attempt to contact the potential winner by replying to the winning entrant's original YouTube comment and/or through another publicly announced method identified by SRMC.
The potential winner will then be provided instructions for privately contacting SRMC to claim the prize.
SRMC will never ask a winner to pay money, provide credit-card information, purchase anything, or pay a fee to claim the prize.
The potential winner must respond within seven (7) calendar days of the initial winner notification.
If the potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond within the required period, is determined to be ineligible, or fails to comply with these Official Rules, the potential winner may be disqualified and another winner may be randomly selected.
9. Prize Delivery
The confirmed winner will be asked to provide the minimum information reasonably necessary to deliver the prize, which may include:
Full name, mailing address, and email address or other contact information.
SRMC will cover ordinary shipping costs to an eligible address within the United States.
SRMC is not responsible for incorrect addresses supplied by the winner or for circumstances outside SRMC's reasonable control after shipment.
10. Privacy Notice
Personal information collected from the winner will be used only for administering the Giveaway, verifying eligibility, communicating with the winner, and delivering the prize, unless additional consent is separately provided.
SRMC will not sell personal information collected for the Giveaway or use the winner's mailing address for unrelated marketing purposes.
Information will be retained only as reasonably necessary to administer the Giveaway, comply with applicable legal requirements, and document fulfillment of the prize, after which unnecessary personal information will be deleted or securely disposed of.
YouTube requires official contest rules to contain a legally compliant privacy notice explaining how personal information collected for the contest will be used. Google Help
11. YouTube Disclaimer and Release
YouTube is not a sponsor of this Giveaway and is not responsible for its administration, selection of the winner, or fulfillment of the prize.
By entering, each entrant agrees to release YouTube from any and all liability related to this Giveaway to the extent permitted by applicable law.
This language addresses YouTube's requirement that contest rules clearly state that YouTube is not the sponsor and require entrants to release YouTube from liability related to the contest. Google Help
12. General Conditions
By participating, entrants agree to these Official Rules and to decisions made by SRMC in administering the Giveaway, subject to applicable law.
SRMC reserves the right to cancel, suspend, modify, or terminate the Giveaway if fraud, technical problems, platform changes, circumstances beyond SRMC's reasonable control, or other issues materially impair the integrity or proper administration of the Giveaway, subject to applicable law.
The Giveaway will be administered and the prize awarded according to these Official Rules.
